The Xeno-Consciousness Research Society

Unlocking the secrets of unknown consciousness

The Xeno-Consciousness Research Society

The Xeno-Consciousness Research Society is a research group that investigates the nature of consciousness in non-human entities. The stranger and more non-human that consciousness could be, the more interesting it is to the society. We look at everything from the potential consciousness of invertebrate animals, to whether networks of agents such as colonies, flocks, and companies can be considered conscious, to artificial intelligence and when or if it will show evidence of consciousness, all the way through what extraterrestrial consciousness may look like.

The Behavioural Guide to Consciousness

The Behavioural Guide to Consciousness is a practical framework designed to help both experts and interested individuals assess whether animals or AI systems exhibit signs of consciousness. By combining leading scientific theories with clear, structured tests, the guide helps users identify key indicators such as perception, memory, decision-making, and self-awareness. Each step is explained clearly, supported by visuals and examples, enabling users to explore complex ideas in a straightforward manner. Whether assessing consciousness in advanced artificial intelligence or exploring the cognitive abilities of less-studied animals, like shrimps, this guide provides a scientifically rigorous yet accessible resource for anyone curious about understanding consciousness across diverse systems. If you're interested in finding out more about the project, come have a chat on our Discord server.
